Home made Plasma Cutting Machine Part 3 The Z ax. ( not computerized ) Weld it to the plate with a little distance. ( i use 2 nuts for the distance )
It can move free.
Make 2 nuts and a long bold to clamp it together.
Make 2 thick plates on it.
Make it as a bridge. Now you can shove the plate and fix it where you want. On the plate we make a little block.
The diameter of the hole in the block is the same as the torch diameter of the plasma cutter. Make a bold at the top to fine tune the height I was forgotten to make pictures of the driver board i use. But this is almost the same, but this is for a 3 axis machine.
It is an simple driverboard , but very professional. The first module i have bought by Leeuwinga.
It is a mach3 Interface board with optocouplers and relays. This is a very save board and easy to configure. The seccond module are the stepper drivers.
These stepper drivers must connect to the 230V and use a step and direction signal. You can configure the drive to 10000 steps per turn and to a maximum of 7,8A for each phase. They are very fast and save for your computer. I bought them by stappenmotor.nl ( this site is also in englisch) We look in the plasma cutter which 2 wires are for the switch and connect 2 new leads to the relay on the mach3 Interface board. Each time the plasma cutter go down ( only in program and not ion the machine ) it must starts with cutting and wait 2 seconds before it moves in X and Y direction. In practical. ( click on the picture below to see the movie )

The software to control the motors is Mach3. I hope you have learn something about it. |
