Wood and Acrylic Reindeer When the holidays come around and you're looking for a unique decoration to liven up your house, try out our wooden reindeer. Using pieces of cherry and maple wood and a black acrylic background, we created this fun decoration from a simple piece of holiday clipart. Download the files for the reindeer below and follow the instructions to create your own holiday masterpiece!
Materials: -1/4" sheet of black acrylic (15" x 9") -1/8" sheet of cherry or alder -1/8" sheet of maple -Roll of 3M double stick tape
Files: Right click on the file below and choose "Save target as." Open the file in CorelDraw 8 or later. reindeer.cdr
When you open the file, you will see three different groups of images. One is listed under acrylic and includes the piece that will be cut out of acrylic, one section is listed under Maple, and the third section is listed under Cherry. Select the acrylic reindeer and run it under combined mode. The outer line of the reindeer will be cut out, while the inner lines will be engraved, making it easy for you to line up the wooden pieces where they are supposed to be located on the finished piece. On the back side of your sheet of maple and cherry, place double stick tape across the entire sheet. You don't need to cover the entire piece, just enough that every piece that will be cut out will have some of the tape on back. Select the sections of the file designated under cherry and maple and run them on the respective wood. After they are done cutting, remove the backing from the double stick tape and place each piece on the black acrylic reindeer. Play with different colors of wood, acrylic, and try to add your own twist to our reindeer decoration!
