Screw thread

There are different kind of screw threads.

Metrical , Gas and Trapezium

Metrical will be often used for bolts and nuts.

Gas will be used in and on pipes. ( no description )

Trapezium will be often used on machines for transportation.

Metrical :

The angle of a tooth is 60 degree.

When you want to make screw thread in a hole you must drill the hole with this diameter in normal material.

When you have strong material you can use a 2% - 4% bigger drill.
Example drill 5mm will be 5.1mm or 5.2 mm

Trapezium thread.

The indication of Trapezium thread is for example : 22 X 5 that means that on a bolt the outside diameter is 22 mm and the pitch is 5 mm.

The angle of a tooth is 30 degree

as you can see : the drill diameter = the outside size of a bolt – the pitch.
